Prototype Delays & Looking at Additional Manufacturers
over 5 years ago – Tue, Nov 06, 2018 at 01:40:40 AM

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately not much to update since last time. We are still on the waiting list of our current manufacturer for the next prototypes due to them focusing on large holiday orders. Needless to say, this has been a frustrating process. They are prioritizing large orders and we are unfortunately not a large order for them. As a result, we are opening up discussions with our backup manufacturer and seeing if they can help us move things along more quickly. So at this point, we are trying to determine which route will be quicker. The current manufacturer is stalled as noted above but they know our product and the backup manufacturer may have an opening in their prototyping schedule sooner but they will likely take several prototyping runs to get things dialed in compared to another 1 or 2 from the current manufacturer...regardless, we will get it worked out but obviously it will stretch out the timeline.

For those that want to add-on additional items, adjust an address, etc, please message us directly and we will get you taken care of.

Some have asked if we can send certain items that don't need additional prototyping ahead of time....unfortunately, ordering items piecemeal from the manufacturer causes the costs to go way up so we need to manufacture everything at the same time to make the costs work within the budget available from the Kickstarter. Also, due to them focusing on their large clients holiday orders currently, they would likely reject our request for that anyway.

We are of course disappointed as surely you all are but we will get things taken care of and get your rewards to you. Thanks again for your support.

Best,

The Latest Round of Prototypes
over 5 years ago – Sun, Sep 30, 2018 at 12:37:21 AM

Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all well.  I've put together a short video showing the latest round of prototypes.  Unfortunately, as you will see, they need additional adjustments which will mean further delay.  The factory has not given us a definitive timeline on the next round of prototypes due to their holiday production schedule ramping up but we are pushing to get this information nailed down.  Thanks for your patience and support.

Gen Con and The Latest Prototypes & Production Update
almost 6 years ago – Thu, Aug 16, 2018 at 08:06:47 PM

Hey Everyone,

Hope you are all well. As always it was an amazing and busy show. It was great to see many of you there. We really enjoyed showing those who stopped by some of our recent prototypes. See below for info on our latest round of prototypes and production.

We just received the latest round of prototypes a few days ago. This is the first round that is testing some of the new internal core materials we mentioned in our previous update. These are even more recent than what we showed off at GenCon. The external look of the prototypes is a bit off and will be corrected in the next run. However, they will give us the ability to do testing on the new core materials, which is what we are focused on right now anyway.

We've just begun the testing process but so far the new core material, a honeycomb plastic, is more rigid and lighter than the old core material which was foam with a thin plastic sheet overlay.

We will do some additional testing over the next couple of weeks and then send the results and feedback back to the factory for the 2nd round of prototypes using this same type of core material. We are already trying to secure a spot in the factories prototyping schedule ahead of time to keep the process moving. Depending on that timing we are hoping to have the next round of prototypes back by end of Sept. If the second round of these designs is good, then we can get on the factories production schedule and move forward from there. It generally takes 45-60 days for production and then some time for shipping to fulfillment centers and then on to each of you. We are doing our best to make everything happen as quickly as possible but we want to be sure that each product is right before production begins.

Here are some of the latest prototype pictures:

As you can see in the pictures below, the 2.0 Vault Duffle on the left is slightly larger than the 1.0 version on the right. This makes it so that standard game boxes like Ticket to Ride, Dominion, and many others of this size can fit in the side pockets and more can fit in the main compartment placing them vertically as opposed to horizontally, which is how they fit in the 1.0 Vault.

Dominion, Ticket to Ride, and other similar size game boxes can now fit vertically in the 2.0 Vault Duffle, including in the large side pockets.

Thanks again for your support, patience, and understanding. I know how frustrating it can be to back a project that gets delayed, I've been on that end several times. Please know we are doing our best and ultimately our focus is to deliver a quality product that each of you can enjoy for years and years to come.

Origins & Exploring New Materials
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 03, 2018 at 10:03:23 PM

Hey Everyone,

Hope you are all well.

It was great to meet so many of you at the Origins game fair in Columbus recently. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello and sharing with us the many ways in which you are using and enjoying the Gamefolio System!

Sorry for the delay in updates...been hectic with the regular J.O.B.  As you know, our products have a lifetime guarantee and we are focused on durability and quality. Part of the process we go through when refining current products and developing new products is to assess different types of materials and manufacturing techniques to find ways to improve each product. In working to finalize the 2.0 products we've come across some materials that will provide more durablility and structure to our products, better protecting your games and gear while also making our products lighter.

Unfortunately this will delay our original Sept timeline due to additional prototyping, quality checks and material creation/availability. While a delayed timeline is a disappointment for us all, the increase in quality, durability, weight, and long term usability of our products will be worth the wait.

We are not sure on the exact timeline delay and will give more details on that as we get more details from the manufacturer and as we continue this process. We are hoping just a couple of months.

As most of you know, creating new products from scratch and building a business around such is a tremendous endeavor and we are continually improving in all areas. An important lesson we've learned for future new product roll outs and/or Kickstarter campaigns is to only focus on just 1 or 2 new products instead of the many new ones we introduced in the 2.0 campaign. It takes a lot more time and effort to get this many new products to market but we will definitely deliver.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

Backerkit Pledge Manager Closing End of April
about 6 years ago – Wed, Apr 18, 2018 at 08:11:21 PM

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick update to let you know everything continues to be on track. We are tweaking a few more things on the prototypes and will soon thereafter move into the manufacturing phase of the project.

To that end, we will be closing the Backerkit pledge manager at the end of April so that we have a solid count of all the rewards we need so we can finalize specifics with the manufacturer.

If you have any adjustments to make to your pledge manager, want to add items or haven't completed your pledge manager then please do so ASAP. If you need help adding additional items or making any adjustments, please let us know.

Best,
